G3: Cuckoo for Cacao

While I do possess a genetic (from my father) ability to bake a pretty decent apple pie, I am still left with the craving for a piece of chocolate every day of the week so holidays are just an excuse to well, amp up the offerings. There’s a quaint strip  in Inman Park in Atlanta that house locally-focused shops that I am a big fan of (more to come on some of those later this week). It may be the nasty rain and chill outside that have me craving a hot chocolate but as I plan my stocking stuffer shopping trip and a few last minute hostess gifts, I am definitely making a trip to Cacao for some of their “bean to bar” offerings.

Each piece of chocolate is hand crafted in their laboratoire. Not only do they use the highest quality organic ingredients while employing time-honored chocolate making processes, but also, every bite of Cacao chocolate is made with personal care and attention, creating a conscious chocolate experience for all those who taste it. Cacao Laboratoire firmly espouses that chocolate does more than provide physical sustenance; it takes the extra step to provide the soul with spiritual nourishment as well. Sold!

For a great hostess gift – I suggest their 12 or 24 piece Bean to Truffle Collection (retails from $30-$60) which features interesting concoctions like their Fig & Balsamic truffle made from House made Fig preserves, aged balasamic and Madagascar vanilla; their Cola Truffle boasts real coca-cola ganache with “popping surprises” (amaze!); holiday-ready Pecan Pie truffles and other interesting combos like Cayenne Pepper Passion Fruit, Raspberry Thyme and Pink Peppercorn Ginger. I love that they number them on the truffles themselves and that you can hand pick your choices from the full collection. They also have traditional holiday faves like White Chocolate Peppermint Bark, Hot Chocolate mix and great gift baskets that you can you grab and go.

For your loved one – who doesn’t love a LOVE bar of chocolate in their stocking! Each bar consists of handcrafted artisan 75% dark chocolate bar created from Hispaniola cocoa beans.  They have several unique offerings such as South Georgia Peanut & Hickory Smoked Sea Salt and their signature Aphrodisia Spice Blend and they retail between $8 and $8.80 per bar.
