30 days & ways to greater green – day 4 (Park Pride)

Springtime Sunshine Seventies

Sustainable spread

Yes, the moment the sun comes out, the temperature hits 70 degrees & the shorts & sandals replace parkas & boots, it’s like a glorious beam across the city (no matter which one you live in) and all the sudden the park is filled with friends & families galore. As I head into Day 4 of my 30 days & ways to greater green blog, it’s pretty apparent that the best theme for this time of year is “Park Pride”. Grab your pals and head to a picnic in the park – hit your local farmers market as a group or have everyone bring a delish dish (think compostable or recyclable containers if you want to make it a one-way dish trip). Tune in later this week for my favorite ideas for compostable products.

From April to October, I watch tons of people gather every weekend to catch up, eat up and soak up all the naturally sustainable setting the park across from our house has to offer. It’s literally the easiest theme for a get-together you can imagine – so grab your blanket, pack up your picnic basket and evite your friends to join you at the park this coming weekend…and yes, it’s the best way to celebrate a Monday…looking forward to Sunday Funday.

Here are some of my favorites in various cities across the U.S. – of course, exploring ones you haven’t been to before it an added adventure – check out the US Parks website to find a park near you!

Piedmont Park – Atlanta

Central Park – New York City

Millenium Park – Chicago

Griffith Park – Los Angeles
